Interior Revamp - Whale Coast Seafoods Hermanus

We were commissioned to help revamp the best local fresh seafood source in Hermanus!  Whoohoo!  Hanja and Leon (the young owners) took on the task all by themselves, spending a few extra hours in their outlet at night.

It was a graphic exploration! Our goal was to keep it White & FRESH, all as cost effective as possible.

To start it all off, we first did their delivery van rebrand, the first we've ever tried!

As well as some stationery and packaging stickers.

Another visual treat was the undercounter Infographic we got to design.  Explaining what they're so good at doing :-)

Can you spot the difference?  At the time of our photo session, there were still a few ins-&-outs missing.  Hopefully they'll host a few guests for a grand bash and we can fill in the gaps.

These were a few custom designed prints we designed for a colour-pop behind their pay counter, all to be mounted in various sized white painted frames.

Engagement Snapshots - Bran & Niets - Hermanus

In December we held an engagement picnic for my brother and his now fiancè!  We had spectacular weather, dramatic clouds and a gorgeous sunset!

They've been dating for 4 years, and he finally got the guts to pop the question, and boy, 'hy het nie doekies omgedraai nie' :-)

Poor Nita didn't have the chance to put her bag down!

"When we wished upon a fairy" - Jungle Tots Hermanus School Play

For the past few weeks we have actively been involved in the creation of the annual school play of Jungle Tots Hermanus 

The play was written by myself - LOL

"When we wished upon a fairy" came alive in the Grobbelaar Hall, Hermanus on a superb summer evening!  The play is about a little boy Jake and his best friend Jules who goes in search of mushrooms and fairies in the Autumn woods close to their home - They spot a lonely fairy, Light in the dark, and she leads the children to her magical world - Which is filled with season fairies, they love their seasonal Pixie dust tree, the season fairies has various talents which they show and sing about - This musical was light-hearted and loads of fun!

An Apron made with LOVE - Lèèf Magazine Competition Entry

My mom decided to enter the Lèèf Magazine "Wys jou hart" apron sewing competition!

The brief was to make an apron while using a heart shape as inspiration -

I think my mommy can feel super proud of this effort! Wow I count 15 hearts in total!

 There are a few awesome prizes up for grabs and the aprons gets auctioned off for charity!

She used chain stitches to hand embroid a beautiful phrase - On a nine patch heart shaped bodice.  This bib is sewn to a bigger heart forming the bottom part of the apron.

The Heart Pockets on the sides are Uneven Lock Cabin, with appliqued mini-hearts which are blanked stitched.

White Crochet hearts finish off the binding straps on the sides.

I am sure if I ask my mom nicely, she'll make you a similar version too! ;-)

Origami Flowers - Handmade for a Hermanus High School Dinner

So, we (my mom and I) have been commissioned to do the flower arrangements for the local High School grade twelve dinner a week ago... It was held at a restaurant called The Classroom, which has a formal interior but also touches of a traditional old school classroom, black boards, chalk, rulers etc.

We've been playing with the idea to make hand folded Origami Kusudama flowers form old telephone guides with the old traditional interactive fortune teller.  Which the learners could pick and play with during their evening.  We've designed our own template with general knowledge questions on the leaves, to encourage them to take note of their environment and world around them as their almost entering the adult realm ;) This was encouraged by a pencil with a small 'Pick me' flag on it.  No one was told to pick the flowers otherwise, so we thought it would be interesting to see their reactions!

We've designed a Afrikaans and English version of the fortune tellers - 

                     

Our theme also focused on sustainability and recycling.  So we've used mayonnaise glass jars, filled it 1/3 with white sugar, wrapped a linen bow around it holding the pencil -
