Arniston & Kassiesbaai gems of the Southern African tip

Wow, what a beautiful discovery!  We've found this quirky restaurant between the white chalk homesteads just over the hill of Kassiesbaai! A few weeks ago we set out on a Saturday morning to the Southernmost tip of Africa.  I've been meaning to post these back then, just couldn't let it slip!

Probably the best 'Kerrie-vis' I've ever tasted, except our own interpreted version also made with Yellowtail. Totally

This cultural fishing village, is so refreshingly beautiful, it is a 'must see' if you ever travel WAY-DOWN-SOUTH! :)

Majestic Babylonstoren

We had a pretty awesome mini road-trip yesterday,

to the spectacular Babylonstoren to say the least!

They were closed for the day, but still gave us a guide to show us around the premises, for a moment it felt like time stood still and we had this amazing farm all to ourselves.  These images are just a glimpse of what they have to offer.

It should definitely be a MUST SEE on your to do list if you were to visit the Franschoek area.  We are certainly making our way back there in the near future!

Oep ve Koep - Kobus vd Merwe

Yes, by now you should have seen this name somewhere...

He is the South African acclaimed chef, Kobus van der Merwe who runs a one man show at the quirky West Coast Garden Restaurant Oep ve Koep!

He is also the West Coast Restaurant Reviewer for the site Eat Out! And was featured in many magazines over the last few months...

We were there!  His service was exceptional, when we arrived the staff informed us that the Lunch menu was still being conjure up by Kobus, who later came to explain the ingredients and the details about each dish in person-  Wow!

Each dish is carefully constructed, one could hear him prepare it in his tiny kitchen, and the aromas, aawwh delicious!

Take the scenic drive to Paternoster, a mere 1 1/2 hours drive north of Cape Town on the R27, passing through Vredenburg, and explore this delightful gem yourself!

I chose the pork-belly sandwich, and hubby the lamb.

Both of them tasted mouth-wateringly!

We loved the interior!

The cherry-on-top? When your are seated they serve a tall glass of ice water with freshly picked mint and sliced orange - for free!

To take home:  A bottle of The Drift - verjuice

Pizza served at Blikkie Pizzeria, Paternoster.  When Nikah was a mere six weeks old we bought a take away pizza there, so this little gem was due for another visit.  If you travel on the main road that leads past the Paternoster Hotel, into the first suburb ever build in town you'll find this Pizzeria on the left hand side primarily constructed out of corrugated iron.


It serves a wide variety of interesting Pizzas, our choice Ham, Mushrooms, Olives and Artichoke... And the view -  No Words!
